What changed with Melissa McCarthy?
I loved her in Spy and Only Murders in the Building but I haven’t seen anything she’s been in for AWHILE otherwise
They/them NB
The most annoying thing about being famous is having to tell everyone how famous you are.

The only two things I can say that I enjoy her in are Spy and Only Murders in the Building.
In both cases the rest of the movie/show carries her but she doesn’t actively make them worse like she does with 90% of the stuff I’ve ever seen her in…
You’re right! I fully forgot about penguin!
I think that’s honestly why I think he’s fun. His king Arthur movie is a hardcore guilty pleasure as someone who enjoys the actual king Arthur myths…
Why the fuck did they try to make him a superhero???
It’s just blind stupid fun but they don’t have an ego attached like the rocks movies do
I disagree heavily with Collin Farrell! He sucks when he’s in a big budget movie but he’s fantastic when he does his little art films.
Check out In Bruges as a great example.
The rule I’ve always gone with is that if the average person knows the movie exists he probably sucks and otherwise he’s fantastic.
A lot of actors are terrible people but Kevin Spacey specifically seems to play it up irl for some reason?
After he got booted for the whole thing he started making videos on his YouTube channel telling the world that he would come for them and that they would regret hurting him while in character as a villain from projects he’s worked in in the past.
He’s the only actor I know of that knows exactly why people don’t want to see him and continues to play into that specifically for some reason…
Chris Pratt is one of my big ones… Can’t stand the guy
Dungeons and Dragons, Heretic, Paddington 2…
He’s been doing a lot of villain movies recently and he is FANTASTIC at being the bad guy!
I agree that he is awful as the main character though… I want to see him defeated!!!
Holy shit idk how I forgot to mention Kevin Hart!
No but I would talk about Santa despite not believing him.
This whole debate is stupid though… I used a very common phrase because it’s a common phrase that people use. That’s pretty much it. I’m done replying.
My question is about what people who actively use that phrase would be upset about. Someone who says the lords name would be upset about “the lords name” specifically.
There’s a difference between being upset about some guy talking to some girl and being upset that your best friend John is flirting with your wife. The specific labels happen to matter even if they aren’t the terms I would use in any other circumstances.
This could be uploaded to a shitposting community with no changes and do quite well
This makes me think that you might need more space
See, I’m not sure about the cutoff point… I’ve heard stories of people getting upset over “God this is so good” after taking a bit of a good meal.
Like I said, I’m not religious so idk all of the context here… I’m just curious why I’ve never seen any complaints about it at all. Not saying more should be upset, just curious.
My fiancé was raised extremely religious and managed to escape that life. The childhood teaching and consequences of said upbringing are always prevalent for us.
As for everyone else… The religious far-right has been growing rapidly across the entire globe so I imagine that has at least a part in it.
TGIF stands for Thank God it’s Friday according their own FAQ:
It’s a common thing religious people say “taking the Lords name in vain”. This is the thing people would call a sin. It wouldn’t be the same if phrased differently.

Would it be possible for someone to give me a TLDR of the background of this? The other comments make the drama sound so interesting and I want to learn the backstory.
Spy was a movie that felt like it was making fun of her other roles in a way that made me enjoy it. The subversive aspect was good. I fully understand why it wouldn’t appeal to someone else though since it literally is the same character she’s played in a ton of other stuff.
