I have mixed feelings about the guy. All that stuff is true, but he also bought a Cybertruck.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•I like Vivaldi however I find them a little untransparentEnglish
14·12 days agoI use Zen as my standard browser. But vivaldi is my chromium based browser of choice when I need one. I wish they were open source. But for a non FOSS product I think they do things pretty well. I personally don’t mind those revenue streams they use as they aren’t that intrusive for me. But again, I only use Vivaldi for installing PWAs (as that doesn’t work well in Zen) and for the rare website I need but doesn’t play well with Firefox.
I’m not convinced all that many people are really into the “step” porn. Its targeted to a small group, and everyone else just watches it because the pornstars are hot and they ignore the “story” anyway.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you buy real Christmas trees or put up artificial ones?English
1·1 month agoFake tree. Easier, safer, less messy. Yeah, it’s plastic, but it lasts as long as you want to keep using it. We just got a new one because we needed a skinny one for space reasons. But the old one we had for over a decade, and we sold it on to someone else.
Except that wheelchair looks like it would actually be fun to try. Unlike any AI chatbot I have heard of.
Living in Texas, the land of massive, scorching hot, sun drenched parking lots, I just cannot understand why solar awnings like that have not become the standard.
Oh wait, oil lobbyists… that’s why…
Looks like a hunger games villain.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Did anyone else snort Pixy Stix as a kid?English
8·5 months agoNope. But my friend snorted sour skittles powder on a dare. The aftermath was like he had been pepper sprayed.

9·6 months agoThis thread caused me to look up WTF y’all were talking about, and yeah… It does look like it’s a whoosh. But I suspect a lot of people are like me and had no idea what loss.jpg is and have never seen it before.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which games made you go into an "addiction phase"?
1·6 months agoI’d say the first one that really got me was Roller Coaster Tycoon when I was a kid. It got to a point where I was playing so much that my dreams were all in isometric grid form. Mostly about park designs, but even other dreams were set in that reality.
After that, it was WoW for my first 3 semesters of college. I didn’t go to class most of the time and got academic suspension for a year. After that I was very cautious with MMOrpgs. Never got too invested into a guild again.

I have a pair that I wear exclusively as house shoes. They are so comfortable. But yeah, I don’t want to wear them in public.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the most unexpectedly useful item you've ever bought under $20?English
3·7 months agoThat’s true. It hasn’t mattered for me, as I have never removed any from the lights I blocked with it. I would assume the purpose made stickers would be better about residue if they need to be removed.

8·7 months agoBlue tack is very handy stuff. But you know, they make blackout stickers for exactly this application. They look a lot nicer. Though personally, I just cut little pieces of black electrical tape.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Who here cries at TV shows or movies?English
17·8 months agoI often tear up from scenes from movies and tv. Yet basically never do for anything in real life.
I was listening to an NPR story the other day about how a ton of people showed up to donate blood to save an infant, and only one was a match, but it was anonymous, now the kid is a healthy 20yr old and the mom can’t thank the person who saved them. It had my eyes all mushy on my commute home.
Yet, I had a cousin, and an uncle pass within the last few months and while I was sad, and I miss them, not a tear generated.

They only freeze the surface if you hold the can upside down or sideways though. If you hold it upright it just sprays close to room temp CO2 as it is suppose to.
