I have a memory of opening the refrigerator and being just about eye level with the bottom shelf. There was a large drawer beneath it. There was a pie on that shelf. I yelled to my mom, “What kind of pie is this?” Rhubarb, she tells me. I think, “Why would she make a rhubarb pie when she knows I don’t like rhubarb?”

Because the refrigerator was one of those with the “pull/lift latch” handles, it must have been in our first house. We moved out of that house when I was about two and a half.

I’ve made many mistakes. I will live with guilt the rest of my life, because there’s not enough time to balance the scales.

Once I really really understood that there’s not a way it’s “supposed to be”, everything got a lot easier.

I treat LLMs not as god-like oracles of pure truth, but rather as sounding boards to get me to consider things that I hadn’t previously. Like, I was just doing some research on home warranties, and I got some potentially valuable information that I then independently verified.

When I don’t quite know what question to ask about the thing I want to know about, an LLM can open those pathways for me.
