Windows 11 has been a nightmare for me. Every time I leave the file browser open my fans start up like I’m doing something insensive. Mssms freezes constantly, visual studio freezes constantly. Switching between virtual desktops? Not without waiting 30 seconds. And finally, idk if this is a dell thing or a win11 thing but the “low power mode” that activates if my battery is at or below 10 percent, despite me turning off all battery saving settings I can find, makes my computer functionally useless. Programs don’t load, I can’t close or open anything. Like the whole point of low power mode is so you have a little more time to wrap up things before you can get to a charger. There’s no point to that if you set my PC so low power that it literally can’t even run the bloated ass OS on it. I hate it so fucking much.
What’s crazy is in my area, most people are Cajun, the Cajuns faced so much discrimination, deportation and even an attempted genocide, and successful assimilation, Cajun French is essentially a dead language. Their Great and great great grandparents were facing discrimination for being accepting of people of color and for not speaking English. Yet due to lack of education of their own history most Cajuns don’t realize they’re perpetuating the very injustices their ancestors went through, hell, there’s a huge population of cajuns that are POC and don’t even realize it!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you use a song for your alarm clock?
2·7 months agoTbh the vibration motor in modern smart phones has been an absolute game changer, the sound doesn’t really matter as long as it’s a softer sound that still is an alarm. But even semi decent vibration motors in phones are leaps and bounds better than the best of early android phones, it’s like someone is tapping me through the mattress, I wake right up.

Locking this post because you’ve got a ton of advice and some people are dangerously close to excusing pedophillia.
It is absolutely weird for someone in their 40s to date someone who is not even 18 yet, but he’s a grown man and you don’t control his choices. If I were you I would get out of there as soon as possible and go low contact but that’s just my opinion.

Only issue is embed videos don’t work rn, I’m currently trying out summit and really like it so far, pressing back does reset your feed to the top though, which is annoying
Ah ok gotcha
What is that?
Ai is running on huge datacenters, these datacenters take freshwater and use it to cool these servers and taints the water turning it into gray water. This is happened in some areas with active droughts. On top of that these data centers are widely run on petroleum based energy systems and they are outputting so much pollution they’re making nearby people sick. They are actively, rapidly making a water crisis and accelerating climate change.
Nothing that’s for “the people” would be actively making everything for people worse. Not to mention the theft of intellectual property without compensation or even credit or permission used to train these libraries.
Kind of defeats the purpose of shit like this when you generate it with ai

+1 on Razer mice, I use the Razer naga pro and I love it, I HATE their software and open it as little as possible, but their mouse quality is pretty good for gaming.
I used to use Logitech, which has much better software in Windows and actually has 3rd party software that lets you customize buttons in Linux, but their switches on their mice go out so quickly. There is a known flaw with their switches and they don’t fix it. IMO Logitech has lowered their quality quite a bit and still kept their prices the same. The last mouse I got from them basically deteriorated, like the side grips basically disintegrated from regular use, in half the time of the Logitech mouse before, and the only reason I replaced the other mouse was because the switches in it died.
I specifically got the Razer Naga pro because it’s got optical switches that don’t wear out in the same way.
