    Huh.

No one mentioned brave-browser, or yt-dlp (+mpv or other video player), in this thread yet?

What… do you all just use the web interface?

I’ve not seen an advert (other than ones the creators makes as part of the video) in over a decade and a half. (And as if it needs said, I don’t pay.)

YouTube, removes downvote count, and implements shitty start up noise that I can’t disable, and raises price. Then wonders why I don’t want to pay for that shit.

Fuck google and the horse it rode in on. Never paying them a single red cent. They already make bank selling my data.

    Fuck em with a cactus.

Never support a monopoly. Enshitification always follows from monopoly power, not the lack thereof.

I don’t deny that YouTube has its great merits, but bundling ads with content is not one of them. Especially not pop-up ads.

I’m on a friends plan. If I wasn’t I’d just download whatever I want to watch. It’s pretty easy to download from YT.

There’s no hoops. Just install a 3rd party player with adblock enabled and that’s it.

You’ve found quite the hornets nest, it seems.

I pay for premium because YouTube does video delivery better than anyone else in the world, and it’s not free for them to provide. Lots of things to hate about YouTube/Alphabet, but theft is a corrupt way of expressing discontentment.

Also, if I pay for premium, then content creators get paid, and I don’t have to shell out for merch to not feel like a terrible person.
