i’ve always understood this to be a trend instead of a rule of the ruling class and i suspect some cabals of the ruling class care more about pushing for absolute dominance more than anything else.
Classes are aggregates, not totalities. There can be people in a class that act irrationally, but the class as a whole moves in its own percieved interest.
Still doesn’t get around that their pursuit is accumulation, so they don’t want to stop that process.
