I think companies should invest in creating some sleep pods or nap rooms with recliners to let employees have a quick nap now and then, I think it’d better for your mental health and would actually make people more productive if they could take a short break from work without feeling guilty or worried about it

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a video game you were bummed about finishing, wishing the experience lasted longer?
1·2 months agoI’m still waiting for another game that will grip me like Subnautica did, Witcher 3, Far Cry 4 were my other obsessions, these days I install a game and play for a bit and then get bored of the repetitive game loop and uninstall, might also be because of all the current stress in my life that I cannot properly unwind and spend hours gaming

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What paid software is absolutely worth the money?
1·2 months agoI bought the pro version of this app years ago, but after jailbreaking my Kindle and installing the open source KOreader on it, I’ve moved to the KOreader app on Android and Readest app on Ios as it comes with built in reading position sync and it can directly connect to my Calibre OPDS server to download the books

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What paid software is absolutely worth the money?
2·2 months agoI’ve tried so many other open source or free software for diffing and Beyond Compare is still the best, if only I could convince my company to pay for a license for it

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone just feels extremely annoyed when other people are playing their videos on loudspeaker?
8·2 months agoBelieve it or not any Bluetooth headphones work with iPhone’s and androids, no body has to buy expensive air pods, 30$ Bluetooth earbuds work equally well for most people’s needs

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you prefer FOSS over proprietary software? How much do you use it?
4·2 months agoAnything that I want to last for a long time. Most proprietary software has only a few years worth of shelf life, before it either turns to shit or ceases to exist. And I most prefer foss for applications where I generate the data and want complete control over it, such as notes, images etc, both for security and privacy along with longevity and full control

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•None of this "what are you thankful for" shit today. What's something you hate?
4·3 months agoTheir owners don’t want their American workers to start getting ideas that they have the right to more time off and better work life balance. So they shove all the holidays in the end of the year to give them something to look forward to and shut up and work for that rest of the year

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How accepting is Lemmy to non-American, non-European and non-Canadian culture and content?
5·3 months agoI mean it’s a anonymous social media, so I don’t know how people can be unaccepting or accepting, rather it’s a matter of are there enough users from your country

Memes@lemmy.ml•We are communists precisely because we live under capitalism
112·4 months agoAs I said such negative external and internal forces will always exist, if your ideology can’t stand against it in practice then it only works in theory. I wish things were different, but I’m not gonna pretend all the answers lie in this sole other system, people need to learn what they can from communism and apply that to a different system that could stand a chance

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Humans suddenly gain the ability to selectively delete their memories. How do you use this ability? (if at all) How do you think society would change?
4·4 months agoI’m sure the pigs will add a law that makes you lose access to anything you bought if you choose to erase it’s memory, so you are forced to but it again
