CheeseNoodle@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is one moral you have that most people don't agree with?English114·7 days agoOk so genuine question (and also my odd moral I guess?) why is eating a plant more moral than eating an animal? They’re both equally alive and subsequently equally dead. Sure plants don’t have a nervous system but they do react to harmful stimuli in a way somewhat analagous to a pain response. The only real difference appears to be that we can relate to animals more.
CheeseNoodle@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•The difference between programmers and testers5·12 days agoCan confirm, not even an official tester (just an open beta tester) and have acrued a reputation for having a legendary bug aura that can cause catastrophic and previously unseen edge cases to occur just by opening the software (game)
CheeseNoodle@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Every person in the world now owns a matter replicator, but due to the limitations of the technology, there is a 24-hour cool-down in between each use. How would people use this technology?14·14 days agoI suspect a lot of guns, explosives, body armor and anti-armor munitions due to the immediate civil war that would break out in most countries as the wealthy elite tells the government to confiscate everyones matter replicators.
CheeseNoodle@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You have a time machine with a single round trip. You hate everyone. And you are lazy. What is the least you can do to completely screw over the world with your one trip through time?2·1 month agoCrows are really communal though so might be a better bet for human like intelligence in the long run. Magpies too, not because they’d help but because they are both intelligent and total jerks so even the eventual crow people wouldn’t get to be happy thus maximizing the chaos.
CheeseNoodle@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your personal most hated company or corporation?English9·2 months agoDon’t forget frequently ripping off ideas from small companies that (used to) sell on amazon. A lot of amazon basics is just stuff they ripped off from other people.
CheeseNoodle@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your most non-mundane possession?5·3 months agoI’m currently building a Guzheng out of wood from the cherry tree I used to hang out in as a kid that got destroyed in a fire with only part of the trunk remaining. Maybe only 4/10 interesting but if this were a fantasy setting that’s at least a +2 magic instrument right there for the backstory its got.
CheeseNoodle@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Alchemists misunderstood both chemistry and economics1·3 months agoThe only way I can see gold becoming cheap being a problem for me is due to it being a problem for rich people and them making it my problem.
Simpsons itself has had multiple scenes cut out of episodes that are now really hard to find, in the worst cases it can be the entire end of an episode. The one that really sticks out is a scene where a celebrity ges jumped by cletus and a bunch of other rednecks and brutally shot to death with a lot of gore, the episode later got censored to end when cletus points a shotgun at him and eventually cut out the scene entierly making the episode rather abrupt.
