I didn’t even know music had a temperature! I still have so much to learn about earth culture.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What video game have you always wanted to play but havent yet?
20·5 months agoThis post is so bizarre. It’s like they only asked the question in order to push people to watch a playthrough as if it’s some sort of “gotcha.”
But they aren’t the same thing to, I’d say, most people. It’s like I asked someone, “Where on earth have you anyways wanted to visit?” and then said, “Why haven’t you looked at pictures then, idiot!”
E: omg forget my whole comment. I agree with you that the name sucks.
I mostly don’t like that
roleis typically an intuitive name, and now suddenly it means something I wouldn’t expect. Why add confusion to your code? I don’t always remember what I meant week to week, much less if someone else wrote it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Any people here orphaned with living parents? what did your life turn out like? What were some of the stuggles, or some of the positives?
15·6 months agoI was kicked out at 17. I was homeless for a short while, and spent some further time couch-surfing and then in what we essentially a halfway home. My 20s were rough, barely scraping by financially. But you can survive a lot in your 20s, and I’m glad I made it through.
I’m now 38, and it’s difficult to condense the journey I’ve had into a few paragraphs. I got married this year. We own a house in a beautiful, tree-filled neighborhood. I’m a software development team lead despite no degree or formal training.
My life wouldn’t be the same without the kindness of friends and strangers, second chances, and a sense of fierce and defiant optimism.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you were in a room with your own pet and 99 identical pets, how would you pick out your pet (aside from calling their name)?
12·6 months ago“find it!” will cause her to search everywhere for her toy. For the other one, it’s whichever starts yodeling if I splash water into the air. I’ve never heard another creature make the noises he does

13·6 months agoI’ve written semi-personal tools that other team members sometimes use that will break in 2100. The comments note this and really hope they aren’t still using these by then

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People with aphantasia, how does it affect your book reading?
11·8 months agoI don’t actively hate descriptions, but I used to just skim them. Now I sometimes slow down for descriptions if I think they might bring additional meaning or context. But then sometimes when it gets to be too much work, I’ll go back to just skipping over them again lol
So would it be accurate to say that autism is on a spectrum that also includes non-autistic people?
