I know that in practice, there is significant deviation from legality and morality, but lots of people pick and choose the parts of religion they want to follow as well.

It’s the wrong takeaway from the comparison.
EndlessNightmare@reddthat.comto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is one moral you have that most people don't agree with?5·6 days agoIf modern medicine and things like vaccines are ok, then so are supplements.

Regardless of one’s views on antinatalism, we absolutely need to acknowledge that not everyone is suitable for parenthood. I’m not suggesting that we (as a society) impose restrictions on it. Rather if someone self-selects for not having kids, people need to STFU and accept it rather than trying to shame or pressure them.

So the meaning of life is … the continuation of life? Or to put it another way, life is the meaning of life. That seems rather tautological.
EndlessNightmare@reddthat.comto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is one moral you have that most people don't agree with?5·7 days agoHousing can either be affordable or a good investment. I should be affordable, but unfortunately it would seem that society has chosen the latter.

Reddit is really fucking passive-aggressive about hiding/not posting stuff and not telling you. If I’m banned or a comment/post is removed, have the fucking balls to tell me. And no, I don’t buy the argument of shadowbanning…it’s really easy to figure it out simply by logging out.
