The people I know who got lasik had to carry around reading glasses. I don’t know the specific details of their treatment beyond that, but the idea of carrying glasses everywhere honestly seems less convenient than just wearing them all day

Apparently it’s contracted braille.
Contracted (Grade 2) braille is used by more experienced braille users. It uses the same letters, punctuation and numbers as uncontracted (Grade 1) braille but adds a series of special signs to represent common words or groups of letters, a bit like a kind of shorthand.
Books, magazines and other information tends to be produced in contracted braille, to cut down on size. Contracted braille produces much less bulky books and magazines.

This do not touch tag is a 3d print, the print creator says they made it using a braille translator website. Other braille “Do Not Touch” tags use some different braille letters for parts, and I don’t know enough about it to tell what the difference is. (edit: it’s contracted braille)

Biggest thing (from what I understand) is that losing weight too rapidly will result in significant muscle loss. Losing muscle also lowers your metabolism, which can lead to rapid weight gain when you get off the drug.
This isn’t glp-1 drug specific, and can be offset by exercise, eating more protein, etc.
Sounds like it comes with a refillable cartridge, but you can also use off the shelf HP cartridges.
And since there’s no DRM, 3rd party cartridges will work too.
They were (with the “Nexus Mods App”), but they cancelled it literally a few days ago. As part of the announcement about shutting it down, they said they would maybe consider Linux support for vortex.
Vortex works through wine, but not natively. Nexus Mods made a new mod loader that was Linux native, but they actually just cancelled it to focus on vortex.
I just learned about Limo which is a Linux native mod loader, and it seems to be a great option.

There would have to be limitations on how many people could get paid for some degree types. It doesn’t do society much good to foot the bill for degrees that don’t have actual related job opportunities. It could maybe work where just heavily needed jobs get wages paid, while other degrees are only offered under the current system.
Another thing here is that this would be another form of taxes used to directly benefit businesses. If taxes pay to educate a lot more employees for a job market, the companies in that market would directly benefit by being able to pay lower wages. I wonder if we could do a different system where companies could offer sponsorships for specific degrees in exchange for employment, similar to how ROTC works.
Yeah, I was recently reading about how a companies went from getting a couple hundred resumes a quarter to 1000s of resumes a month. They’re either using AI to try to process them, or ignoring resumes completely to use recruiter services.
I think astronaut has a higher skill floor than guitarist. I don’t mentally separate astronauts into categories like amateur/average/talented/expert, it’s just assumed that any astronaut is an expert. Leading with describing someone as a guitarist before you mention they’re an astronaut too implies that they’re also an expert guitarist.
So basically it’s the difference between:
An expert guitarist who’s also an expert astronaut
An expert astronaut who’s also an amateur guitar player.
Generally the same culture, but skewed towards more tech savvy types and online-centric culture groups. It’s a lot smaller than reddit, which helps a lot with the quality of interactions, but I think if it grew enough it would end up very close to reddit culture.

I was a big fan of relay for Reddit, and thunder is the closest I’ve found.
One of the Egypt stories involved men following a woman back to her hotel room, and she had to lock herself inside. They continued to come to her hotel everyday, and bang on her door telling her to let them in. She ended up spending the whole trip stuck in that room, feeling unsafe to leave until she finally got an escort to make it to her flight home.
Unfortunately in cases like that, it really sounds like it goes beyond something you can be adult about and just ignore. I think her main mistake was not doing better research about where it was safe to travel as an unaccompanied woman, as much as I wish that wasn’t a concern.
You can also set up word filters in a lot of the Lemmy apps. Filtering words like Trump for example will remove a lot of negative content from your feed, especially since people are bad to post about him in specifically non-political communities.
