I used to game with a guy that swore by ps/2 keyboard for the interrupt supposedly making his inputs easier to perfectly time, but he got into a heated argument with my other gaming buddy over whether or not his mobo just had a usb ps/2 port that was basically a built in adapter and I never heard from either of them since.
I wish arch was a thing back then so I could have thrown in the standard line and have the last laugh.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Thinking of adding Navidrome and Jellyfin to my set upEnglish
1·2 months agoI was using just jellyfin for a while but navidrome got around some issues I was having, or rather the primary user of the music library was having with various things being wrong such as duplicate artists, incorrect album art, albums split into duplicates with opposite missing tracks. Once things went wrong in jellyfin it was a pain to figure out what the cause and fix were. Navidrome seems to base everything off the embedded tags and using lidarr to rewrite the tags, and for some albums rename the files, made everything show up correctly, then a delete missing files in navidrome cleans up the evidence and everyone is happy. The playlists are stored on the server too so if you don’t like a particular client app you don’t have to remake them if you try another, or just having them persist between mobile and desktop.

1·2 months agothis is new to me, thanks.
battery angle grinder. really they should require licences. People have used them to steal bikes in public areas and nobody is confronting a potentially mentally unstable individual with a tool that can cut a U lock in a second or two
two angle grinders. one with an aluminum cutter and the other with a steel cutter. You can get into basically anything with that combo. cut off the hinges or around the rack locks and just take stuff you didn’t spray with metal dust.
we can never win. it’s simply not allowed

1·2 months agoIt’s currently just me and my parents but thanks for the info. I’d be going insane if the rest of my family joined and I couldn’t figure out why the recognition was split up.

3·2 months agoI’ve wanted to make frames like that but those aluminum extrusions are so expensive here. I’m tempted to just get stainless square tube and weld it. The welder would appreciate getting dusted off and receiving the attention.

Including sbcs there are 8 computers in there. There are 5 more laptops and another retired desktop joining. There are plans to get solar and batteries so I’m checking how much power I can actually draw.edit: just found the weird netbook with usb3 ethernet that I used to run homeassistant bare metal back in the day. one more for the computer pile.
I have all of mine backed up on a hard drive. They have nothing preventing me from using them on the last working computer at the end of the world

17·4 months agoI used some distro with vim back in the day and I just kept using it. I lose my shit when I use something with just nano and my muscle memory tries to do a vim thing.

I worked in steel shops and we would always walk by each other and be like "hey mike"and already have the middle finger up. Drop something? Flip it off. Welder stops mid weld because someone flipped your breaker? Flip off the welder and the guy. etc. All day every day. I miss those fuckers.
