So, embedding the data in that somehow and keeping it cool might work.
Printed might also work but it’s a lot of data. Microfiche maybe?
Another option might be to use some form of nuclear battery to keep a bunch of multi TB SSDs powered up.

I_Miss_Daniel@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How reliable/realistic is to use a laptop as a remote file backup server?English2·2 months agoA smart switch that turns off the power when the battery hits 80% and turns it on at 78%? Dunno if that would actually work.
I_Miss_Daniel@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How reliable/realistic is to use a laptop as a remote file backup server?English9·2 months agoIt’ll probably work. Biggest issue will be recovery after power failure as laptops generally stay off.
Next most likely is CPU fan failure, exacerbated if CPU usage causes the fans to run high and nobody is there to blow the dust out.
Other than that I’ve had multiple laptops that run as servers over the years and generally they’re fine. Streaming audio for our community radio station, or shoved behind wall mounted TV’s for updateable PowerPoint displays.

Actually I think the brain uses 30 watts so you’re not far off :)
I really should check my sources! Slacker me.

Bicycle riders make 30-70 watts from memory. That’ll run a few LED lights, but if you want the fridge you need five cyclists, and for the aircon about 30 to 50 I think.
I_Miss_Daniel@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What the fuck is going on with 196/onehundredninetysix?English3·3 months agoEdit: seems my memory of the quantity was wrong.

I think in Rainman, when the 200 toothpicks fell to the ground, Ray counted 196 instantly. There were four left in the box.
The sub name is unrelated, but that’s how I think of it :)
Time to go counting cards…
Poseidon’s Kiss might have healing powers if you’re lucky.
I_Miss_Daniel@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When was the last time you were blamed for something you didn't do?English6·3 months agoThe cat did a silent fart and jumped off the couch. The wife seemed to think it was me. I never even smelt it.
Perhaps “The Missing Postman” - not sure if it actually got canned or is just unknown though.
