The first season was groundbreaking at the time, but quickly became cringe in hindsight from its popularity and the romanticization of certain events. Later seasons, which weren’t as immediately popular for spoiler reasons, get more and more serious and become more cinematically rewarding for the viewer.
If you can get past the first season, it gets a lot better. The last season is honestly some of the best pieces of television content I’ve ever seen.
Its a victim of its time. There is a decent amount of filler and some episodes have big inconsistencies at one point due to being released out of order since they were filler content, but the overarching quality of the show, and watching it slowly move away from monster/mystery of the week to something that rewarded its fans in multiple intentional and sometimes subtle ways, it truly felt… And still feels… Like something deeply special and really worth recommending, even if you do end up having to work through a decent amount of filler in the first seasons.
I would absolutely think twice or thrice about recommending GoT. In fact, I’ve already recommended some friends to not watch it. Some amazing episodes, perhaps some of the best scenes ever seen on TV, and by far the most upsetting, spit-in-the-face, negligent final season from any show I’ve ever seen. Umbrella Academy wishes it had as bad an ending as GoT, if only for the infamy.
Anyway 3 Body Problem looks really promising and I’m sure the creators, whoever they are, will absolutely nail it…
It varies a lot from person to person among those who are bilingual, and even from era to era. I’m Honduran, for context. I had nearly natively fluent English when I came out of high school and began working at a call center, mostly because I played an MMO for years and spent days and nights in Skype calls with groups of people from all over the world, most of which were native English speakers. Everyone else on the call center was astounded at how good my English was, and it was indeed miles better than anyone else in the office.
Then, I started university, it was predominantly taught in Spanish, everyone spoke Spanish, and I stopped playing MMOs and spending all day on Skype calls. I very clearly remember the transition, where I had trouble speaking Spanish quickly because I was so used to English, to now having to think for a second what I want to say in English before saying it in a less than perfect accent, while my Spanish now flows quite easily. My Spanish and my English essentially swapped places (to where they should’ve always been, if you ask me). I now believe this had a noticeable impact on my social life when I was young, I was too shy to talk in Spanish but the shyness would fade away completely if I held the conversation in English. Thankfully, spanglish became a predominant way of speaking now and everyone is happy lmao.
Content consumed did little difference, I believe. I never stopped consuming content in English. Still do, I spend too much time on Youtube and 99% of what I watch is in English, but my English will never be as good as it was back in those MMO days. Daily practice with native speakers makes all the difference in the world. I now have friends with better English than I had in my golden years, but since they work for Brits or Aussies, they have that accent, and I can’t tell the latino bits out of them at all, they could fool me if I didn’t know any better.
Edit: education here is not good. I had classmates on senior year who couldn’t read out of a reading book, at ALL. I’ve heard similar stories from even the most prestigious schools in the city. My school would pride itself on having some american teachers at some point, but that was history by the time I rolled through, so my English was 100% a gamer skill.
They just did a video through FUTO where they go over all “missing” features and why they haven’t or aren’t implementing them. Almost from the start they essentially said that if it’s still missing by now, there’s a reason why, and they mostly have everything they wanted to build into immich already on immich. I would imagine a feature complete project would be in more of a maintenance phase, and maintenance being slow during the holidays sounds… Pretty normal to me.
I think xhamster or one of those pages, they have AI subtitles I believe. They automatically pick up the language and give you English subtitles by default.
Edit: to clarify, I don’t usually pay attention to the dialogue unless its unscripted amateur stuff. Two porn actors reading the corniest lines possible? Fuck no. A random-ass couple being perverted and uploading themselves online cause they’re pervs, and you can hear their perv talks? Fuck yes, sign me the fuck up, let’s all be pervs together, the way Lenin intended.
It is a civic duty to redact certain papers incorrectly.
For the longest time I had “FBI Van” and “NSA Van” for my 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands respectively. 0 cool stories with that scheme, until I changed the 5ghz one to “Ganon’s Tower” and a neighbor eventually joined me and named his wifi “Hyrule Castle”. We kept that for a few years until the neighbor moved, I believe
I’d just like to clarify that thick Latina bots will NOT be reported. Thank you for your attention on this matter.
This is the right answer
Wait so you built a pool using removable USB media, and was surprised it didn’t work? Lmao
That’s like being angry that a car wash physically hurt you because you drove in on a bike, then using a hose on your bike and claiming that the hose is better than the car wash.
Zfs is a low level system meant for pcie or sata, not USB, which is many layers above sata & pcie. Rsync was the right choice for this scenario since it’s a higher level program which doesn’t care about anything other than just the data and will work over USB, Ethernet, wifi, etc., but you gotta understand why it was the right choice instead of just throwing shade at one of the most robust filesystems out there just because it wasn’t designed for your specific usecase.
Musk losing it and calling that other dude a pedo during this event is what got me to start hopping off the musk train, so I kinda feel thankful for it?
I host a Plex server for close to 70 friends and family members, from multiple parts of the world. I have over 60TBs of movies, tv shows, anime, anime movies, and flac music, and everyone can connect directly to my server via my reverse proxy and my public IPs. This works on their phones, their tvs, their tablets and PCs. I have people of all ages using my server, from very young kids to very old grandparents of friends. I have friends who share their accounts with their families, meaning I probably have already hit 100+ people using my server. Everyone is able to request whatever they want through overseerr with their Plex account, and everything shows up pretty instantly as soon as it is found and downloaded. It works almost flawlessly, whether locally or remotely, from anywhere in the world. I myself don’t even reside in the same home that my Plex server resides. I paid for my lifetime pass over 10 years ago.
Can you guarantee that I can move over to jellyfin and that every single person currently using my Plex server will continue having the same level of experience and quality of life that they’re having with my Plex server currently? Because if you can’t, you just answered your own question. Sometimes we self host things for ourselves and we can deal with some pains, but sometimes we require something that works for more people than just us, and that’s when we have to make compromises. Plex is not perfect, and is actively becoming enshittified, but I can’t simply dump it and replace it with something very much meant for local or single person use rather than actively serving tens to hundreds of people off a server built with OTC components.
I’ve heard of people having breakthroughs/ego deaths while meditating, so it can definitely get there by the looks of it
I’m still waiting to know who added a whole ass island teleportation stirring system, but I guess the point of the ending is that there’s shit that not even the mythical beings that we meet know or understand, because they themselves were simply thrust into the island long after most of its mistycism started.
My dude, I understand your unwillingness, but docker is just a fancy new way of saying “install apps without it being a major PITA”. You just find the app you want on docker hub or some other docker repo, you pull the image, you run it, et voila, you have a container. No worrying about python suddenly breaking, or about running 5 commands in a row to spin up an app (I used to do this, including the whole python rain dance, to run home assistant. I feel stupid now).
Decluttarr actually has a section to set up their container:
https://github.com/ManiMatter/decluttarr#method-1-docker
It’s step by step, all you have to do is get docker installed on your machine, then copy paste that text into a file, and run the docker command mentioned in the same directory as the file.
Trust me, you want to learn this, because after the first 15 minutes of confusion, you suddenly have the holy grail to self hosting right at your fingertips. It takes me all of 5 minutes to add a new service to my homelab all because it’s so easy with docker. And it’s so ubiquitous and popular! TrueNAS SCALE uses docker for all its apps, the idea of containers essentially reshaped Linux desktop to be what it is today, with flatpaks and all.
The SSD price hike prediction is really fucking infuriating. Doesn’t seem like we’re aiming to replace HDDs ever at this pace.
I also went with 16 drives, but they were 20TB each. OP, if you don’t already have those 4tb drives, reconsider the amount and sizes. 4tb can’t be the price sweet spot for HDDs…
