Korhaka@sopuli.xyzto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The world was a nicer place before the advent of leaf blowersEnglish31·5 days agoHonestly this is a reason I would kinda like to have one. But I do have a 500w electric blower for cleaning dust from my PC. Have thought of using that to help get the BBQ going real hot sometime if I get an extension lead for it.
How would you like your steak? I can apply it directly to the coals anywhere from orange to white hot.

Korhaka@sopuli.xyzto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The world was a nicer place before the advent of leaf blowersEnglish204·5 days agoIt sounds like a very American problem. I just let the leaves rot away on their own really, maybe sweep the path by my house and they can sit on a garden bed around some plants and rot down there.
Korhaka@sopuli.xyzto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The world was a nicer place before the advent of leaf blowersEnglish101·5 days agoI will not, I own this property now and will do what I like with it! The front garden has taken care of its self for the past 2 years now. Loads of foxgloves growing right now and a mix of some other things. I do remove a few thorns though when they start getting big.
Mainly focusing effort on the back garden, got some shrubs growing but want them to get bigger to properly take up the area they are growing in and cover some of the bare soil a bit more. Its getting better over time. I think a cat keeps trying to dig in some of them too and having bigger established shrubs in the way should prevent that but it takes time. Overall focus is on low maintenance things.

Korhaka@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your plan for the Zombie Apocalypse?English4·11 days agoOnce we start to hear about the zombie outbreak I will go door to door on my street and form a militia. Arm everyone with pike and spear to fight and practice fighting in formation. Picks and shovels to make earth barriers and spikes to slow and funnel the zombies.

Some of them make for deliciously cursed slushies though
So what is the point of these frameworks if they make it harder?
Korhaka@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•My dearest Lemmy, what is the appliance you have the most beef with?English1·15 days agoI think I will continue to not own a printer.
It’s easy, just use @media and padding to the left side of the div to put it in the centre for each screen size.
Korhaka@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•My dearest Lemmy, what is the appliance you have the most beef with?English2·15 days agoOhh is that the proper name for them, found it on eBay very cheap. Ages ago I was annoyed at tin openers but tried one that should stab through the lid and then lever through. It broke within a day or two, it was rivited together and they failed.
Think I might just buy some, also a more practical size for taking out and cooking over a stove.
Korhaka@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•My dearest Lemmy, what is the appliance you have the most beef with?English1·15 days agoNot when I am done with it. From having to support them before I am so glad I don’t own one.
Work harder, Europe and China need their cheap electronics.
Wish I knew, bought a handline to try from a kayak. No license so it barely cost me anything to try it, ended up feeling motion sickness after a little while and caught nothing. Might be worth trying to get a basic rod and go from land, but there is so much terminology I don’t even vaguely understand to go through. Think there are a bunch of different types, like you can just leave some hooks in the water and wait until something gets caught, or you may need to constantly be reeling in the line to get something to bite it. I know I would rather go with just leaving a few lines in the water, could have multiple out then too.
Had quite a bit more luck with crabs from the shore, though they are fairly small. Could probably make a nice crab fried rice with a few of them though and then use the bodies for stock. Not sure how much if any fishing regulations apply to restrict what I can do there though. Mainly limitations of method, like how many nets, how large. There are no catch limits on green shore crabs that I am aware of, brown crabs have got a minimum size and possibly a number limit for personal consumption.
Then of course I have no idea where is actually a good place, and I don’t know anyone interested in it to talk to that could help give useful advice.
Korhaka@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How are Americans preparing for the Trumpist supply shock?English12·25 days agoI already know how to cook poverty foods from living off £8k a year back around 2016.
Korhaka@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How are Americans preparing for the Trumpist supply shock?English7·25 days agoMost of what I grow is for flavour rather than sustenance, pretty limited space. Doubt I will survive for long off garlic, bay leaves and rosemary with a sprinkling of mint.
I live in the UK and as long as my lawn isn’t blocking out the sun or causing an actual health risk to people I can pretty much do what ever I like with it. I am thinking of aim for wildflower meadow.
