    Just saying: If you need a step for step tutorial to make something available worldwide, you shouldn’t.

    There is a reason why an apprenticeship for sysAdmin (not even going into software engeneering) is 3 years of school and work full time.

    Also, as someone who has actually gone into this kinda deep, it is simply not feasable to actively maintain your system for CVEs, hardware and software and still work AND have a social life.

    Also by hosting a social media site (its a peer after all) you need to abide by all kind of regulatory shit the moment you make it available for others to post there.

    Email.

    As someone who has been self hosting some stuff and generally aspires to work in IT, it is simply unfeasible to expect services like this for free

    Would it cost me less to host such a server divided by x users? Yes

    Do I have x users I can sustainably service without burning out? No.

    So its either a managed server for like 15€ per month + a bunch of work or a paid email provider, in my case fastmail.

    As someone who had a phase where my day consisted of saying snarky stuff to stupid people on a forum known for stupid people, its about your self worth being so bad that you start seeing others as subhuman for not knowing such a basic thing

    At the time, I was not sure if I would pass high school, and since I needed the degree for the thing I want to study (system integration), I was pretty much suicidal, although only passively/only wanting to jump off of a bridge, not doing it

    And since my self worth was already zero, I saw others who knew even less as the unsaveable bottom of humanity

    People who sign these things know full well what they are doing

    FYI: tl;Dr version: there is a very good reason why System administration and integration is a 3 year long education, and trust me, from what I’ve seen you don’t meet that criteria.

    FYI: Long version. (Btw, I'm not working in the field, but I'm planning to, so please correct any misconceptions)

    The GDPR Exists, data protection laws exist, and it is your duty to inform other of what you are doing with that info, not the users. Premade docker images are shit for security, they are almost every time based on an old Version and such are vulnerable to Hacks like the SQL CVE just some Weeks ago. Your data will get leaked, your users data will get leaked, and you will be liable to all damage. If you want an alternative to the usual petition sites, you will also need to implement a working bot protection, trolls, etc, of which cloudflare or other CDNs will only do a fraction of. Your homelab needs to have a good uptime, regular sec updates, and competent security. Your own network will get ddosed as a result of the traffic, if you don’t have a good network plan. All of those are just a few things you have to think about when publishing to the internet, and which you apparently just don’t have the knowledge to do.

    grapheneos’ attacks on other groups

    Where Attack? The worst Graphene ever did was say that they don’t support certain Phones like FP because they are not updating their OS to their liking

    Are you gonna go to Qubes OS next and complain that they are attacking laptop manufacturers (don’t officially support Laptops because they don’t have an open source UEFI)?
