Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Any other American 90s kids grow up watching classic Doctor Who?English
11·1 day agoI hadn’t even heard of Doctor Who until like the 2000s and vaguely remember mentions of the 90s movie that didn’t do well in translation. I guess Doctor Who was in hiatus for like 10-ish years or something, had a movie released, retreated then got a proper continuing series by like 2005 and been going since.
I have the 9th to 11th Doctor series on DVD I’ve yet to watch.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are some people losing their humanity in the age of AI?English
31·1 day agoHave you stopped to figure that you were on Reddit where it is like one of the cesspools of humanity? That’s the same place that kisses Spez’s ass who has been selling them over hand over fist, over anything before the bots came rampant on there. And they enjoy it because they think they’ll have a slice of the pie if they invest in Reddit.
Nobody on there can make up their mind on anything. They hate Musk, but love Spez, who worships Musk. They love this but hate that and that is applicable to anything. They’re too stubborn to leave because they love validation and are high on themselves by the amount of shitty pointless karma farming they’ve done.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would it make sense to have a list of "Retired Questions"? - Questions asked so often and with no real change in answers that they're deleted on sight - if so, what questions would you pick?English
3·3 days agoNo. Some questions bear repeating because:
Users have a tendency to delete their accounts, taking their posts with them including what they asked.
Newer users and even frequent ones, can’t be bothered to comb through pages and pages of previously asked questions. Plus, it’s gravedigging old posts.
Restricting questions would just be too limiting, however, there are reasons some questions should not be asked and that falls in line to the rules of the sidebar that get constantly ignored.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why aren't any of the AI companies profitable currently?English
26·4 days agoFirst off, we don’t need your arrows to know how to read a title. I wish we can get over this normalized thing where people have to point out “it’s in the title”. Like, no duh, we can READ it. Stop insulting people’s intelligence.
And to make a mockery of your body text or lack of. My answers are in the comments.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Anyone else tired of guessing at how to make life better for a majority of people like its your personal life mission or something?English
4·4 days agoI’ve been tired of it.
I don’t have all of the answers for you. I’m not your speaker. I get told that I’m full of shit or that I’m wrong even when I do actually present honest and truthful methods in how to go about undoing the damage being caused onto all of us.
In the end, all I’m caring about and looking out for is me and a few others. You’re on your own, you need to be the one stepping up, you need to be the one to come up with your own opinions and thoughts. More importantly, you need to be the one to take that action. I can’t do everything for you and nobody should just because you won’t.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a band or artist you wish you could see, but they never make it to your area?English
2·4 days agoMajority of bands. In my old state of VT, no big band would ever waste time there and I was limited as to how far I could travel when they reach other states like Mass or New York.
And where I currently live, yeah there will sometimes be some bands/groups I wouldn’t mind seeing, but I’m still locked out from seeing most of them.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Has anyone actually eaten or diped OREO with MilkEnglish
5·4 days agoYes, it is mandatory for me that if I am to ever buy cookies such as Oreo, there must be milk to go with it. I can’t handle eating them dry.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why are churches in Europe almost always built on top of Pagan ritual sites?English
251·5 days agoBecause the bastards knew they couldn’t convert them when they were alive, so fuck it, they’ll wait until they’re dead and disicrate the remains. It’s no different than when The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints went around converting dead jews, even ones from the holocaust, from converting even though they were told not to.
Religious bastards will stop at nothing to convert anyone.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What device never needed a 'Smart' version?English
2·5 days agoDude, I’m glad to know someone else who does this because I’ve got it set up too this way. I’ve got 3 monitors in my apartment, two of them are for PC that are spread apart (because I found that my attention seems to not work well when they’re close together) and I have a TV in the center of the living room. I have an HDMI cable going from PC to that TV while the other ports are taken from DVI-Displayport adapters from the other monitors.
I can watch any streaming service I want with next to no ads, as it was intended and should be intended.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What makes you hold utter and continual contempt against the world?English
2·6 days agoWell it’s evolved from that point now.
It’s about pressing the right buttons. And we’ve seen that in complete demonstration. When people were complaining, of all things, about egg prices. Guess what some candidates focused on? Egg prices and how they’ll promise to lower them, despite having no understanding or care as to why they were high in price to begin with.
So if you press that button to that crowd, you’ll get the idiocy of that crowd to go for you. And this applies to generally any issue from any party.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If your child came out to you, how did you adjust?English
3·8 days agoI technically have adopted a son. This son, who I once knew as a female. But, it is without question, that I see them as, know them as and treat them as the kind of son equally as I would if they were my daughter. It helps to relate with them, when you’re one of them too. So, it was all easy.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you noticed the degradation of content closer to the 2020s and beyond?English
3·8 days agoI don’t know, sounds like all of that is subjective to me.
If this was applied to YouTube, then yes, quite noticeable.

Yeah, it’s about not appearing so suspicious or seemingly pressing like you need to know something. Keep it simple, not complicated.
