Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What age do you stop trusting the government?English
3·4 days agoI didn’t start caring about politics until the late 2000s. When I learned about how bad George W Bush was, it gave me a hint. Politics to me growing up, was just simply background noise, something I could ignore. It was until within Obama’s second term that I started to really see what was happening, so this was about 26 for me. Then 2016 since, I would say that my trust in the government has all but been broken and that was even before Trump had his first term.
Monster Javas.
It’s the only Monster-related drink I’ll have, not a fan of the other flavored energy drinks they have or even the original energy drink. I have gone about 2 - 3 weeks without a can, it has helped some but when I have a can, it is a nice kick up in energy. Prolonged periods though tend to bring an energy crash.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there currently an influx of bots in the Fediverse, or is it just that the usual patriotism is kicking in?English
4·5 days agoI swear that cm0002 guy or whatever is a bot, because they go around cross-posting a lot of stuff here and there.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is using a copyrighted image/image that isn't yours as an avatar actually okay?English
62·5 days agoTechnically speaking, it is illegal to even save images you find online to your PC.
However, because that billions of people do it, it is not enforced much less, not even talked about. However, I’d like to clarify that the only time you may run afoul with it, is if you find yourself at odds with a very uptight stock image site like Shutterstock. Simply because they charge money, quite expensively I’ll add, just to use stock images. They don’t like people finding ways to download stock images from their service.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Videogames you always wanted to play but they did disappointed you?English
12·5 days agoI too felt like Gold and Silver was the pinnacle peak of Pokemon popularity. The games were fantastic. The closest I got to playing Pokemon similarly to how I did back then was the remakes of Gold and Silver for the DS.
Generation III, Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, really dulled the franchise as they were trying a lot of new things. Which really felt like a throw-anything-at-the-wall-see-what-sticks way to go about it, only Pokemon.
And granted that Generation IV, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, did fire up that spark again but it only felt like things tapered off once we moved on from that generation.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What honest and harmless test do you put on a potential date?English
110·6 days agoTesting is important because it’s not a great feeling to be trying out with someone who turns out to be an incredible waste of time and effort.

37·6 days agoI honestly believe we’re wasting time with the Middle-East…again.
Unless it’s for freaking oil.
I mean, I’ve obviously been upsetting people with a few things I said regarding the Iran issue. Like come on, the people in those countries, almost always need a nudge or two to figure out how to better themselves. If they don’t like other countries fiddling with their business, then guess what? FIX YOUR COUNTRY! The Taliban took over Afghanistan in less than a week! What did the people do? Allow it to freaking happen, after the US has spent years and lots of money doing what they could there.
And as soon as they’re out, oop, back to normal I guess! As long as religious tensions and the allowance people do about corruption taking hold, there will always be violence there whether other countries interfere or not.
It’s almost freaking pointless.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What piece of software is all that you'll need to use?English
31·9 days agoI’m kinda wondering myself why I’m reading so many recommendations for text-editors. But, I’m not gonna care because, there could be coders lurking and might want to grab some of those recommendations.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do people get out of being hateful online?English
2·9 days agoIt’s all egotistical and to appease what social insecurity that they have against anyone. Some entitled users, think they’re disrupting some status quo they believe that they see, so they think that being an asshole, they’re disrupting it and ‘making it better’. It’s all arbitrary bullshit.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some things about the past people get wrong today?English
1·10 days agoPeople don’t realize that it took a little bit of more time for certain decades to truly start before we knew them as they were. They all didn’t go like “it’s 1980, so lets break out the synths right now!”. But actually, the 80s didn’t seem to really start until something like 1982. Same with the 90s and so on. It takes cultural change some time to get moving.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do people go out of their way to dodge manhole covers while driving?English
1·10 days agoBecause it’s not a good feeling hitting them and they’ll always make you think whether you’re blowing out your tires or fucking with the suspension.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How could we go about making a jurisdiction where advertising is illegal?English
3·12 days agoYou would have to commit political suicide to even get a bill on the docket to limit the amount of commercial pollution. It is just one of those things that’s so knee-deep, it would take tireless efforts to overcome.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s your golden rule for the internet?English
31·12 days agoSimilar to treat others as they treat you. I can’t count how many times, people have decidedly confronted me to be a asshole of a bastard, then are quick to play the victim fiddle soon as it is handed right back at them. Don’t be a prick or you’ll get the treatment right back. I don’t care what you’re going through or anything, I’ll automatically assume you’ve got no life going for you to be acting like a bitch to people online.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you know youre getting burnt out at work?English
3·12 days agoYou take more time off than you want to. When I began my current job, I was on for 5 days a week. And I ran with that ball for a good year and a half. But, I started to use PTO/PPTO like nobody’s business and I even took hits on my points. I keep skirting at 4.5 points because it’s just not fun and rewarding to do what I do anymore.
When I keep coming in and having to correct people’s mistakes, on top of what I’m assigned to do and how I’m to be someone’s crutch when they aren’t pushing themselves. It’s demoralizing. I haven’t even begun to talk about how many times I’d be complimented for what I do, only for management to turn around and backhand me the moment we have 1 on 1 conversations over concerns about performance. Quick to praise, but quicker to break you down.
Watching TV and movies.
I just simply do not do that anymore and I’m not counting YouTube as watching anything. I’ve squandered so many subscriptions to streaming services, bought so many DVDs from thrifting and all. All for it to never be watched.
I’ll add reading books too.
