I used the profile thingy to go from one OS to the other and I think there were no additional steps (or at least they were unsignificant enough so that I dont remember them).

It’s a bit clunky, i think there’s 2 directories to copy/paste, one for profile, one for cache (though 2nd one is probably optional), and i remember having to erase some manually when i choose wrong folder when copying. From Firefox about:profile page, you can open the folder it’s actually using as profile folder to avoid confusion.

Any vegetable i like fried in a pan, deglazed with any liquid (wine, broth, cream, water), some things to thicken the sauce (cheese, starch, flour), with a bit of any seasoning, and this goes on either pasta, rice or couscous. Very bad for the carbs part though, i admit.

I’m used to separating breakfast food (cereals, fruits, bread and jelly, crepes, pancakes) and lunch/diner food (carbs, vegetables, sushi, etc), but i’m also used to eating some at the time of the other (dining with crepes or bread, or having breakfast with leftovers of dinner)

4K really weighs heavy in matter of storage space, just multiply 1080p by 4. If you can get that the raw rushes for a 1080p clip would be around 500 Go, then it makes sense that the same in 4k is 4 times bigger. My friends who stores a lot of rushes buys a new hard drive each year or two now that he uses 4k

Yup, for the glasses, it’s definitely an explanation of why we used to call them that way, the justification does not have much sense nowadays.

My two cents, from a french perspectice : we say “a pair of scissors” and “a pair of glasses” but never “a pair of jeans”. For the glasses, it kinda make sense since you can wear only one glass at a time though it’s highly unpractical. For the scissors it make sense if you consider one scissor to be one blade with a handle. I perfectly understand your rant on the jeans point.

I would feel okay i think. I only use it when it ends up in my search engine answers, and i think it’s okay, it has both a larger userbase and older history, so for niche subjects and specific questions it makes sense to use it.

But if you feel bad about it, maybe consider creating the communities you would like to see on Lemmy, as others said ! It may be not as hard and time consuming as you think, especially if you find some people to help you or even to entirely transfer the moderation part.

I don’t know for the “all used” part, but yeah, responsibility of wars to come will partly lay on weapons makers, both enterprises and countries. They can say “I admit that I increase risk of wars and war casualties, but I think it’s the best bet for country/nation”., it’s not necessarily exclusive, but weapons are made to be used (especially dissuasion weapons, they only work if it’s well known they are ready to use).

Mid-20s male here. They get to mid-back length now, and i’m overall very happy about it. They sometimes get stuck while in bed or at work but it’s a small price to pay for not bothering with cutting them and it’s really cool to headbang with it. Like others said, some boomers give me a hard time, but on the other hand i get random compliments from strangers so i take that as a win.

It is highly unpopular here to criticize Ukraine, and people kinda have good reasons for it, with all the far-right/trolls/tankies praising Russia and undermining Ukraine support.

Still, and though I support Ukrainians in a war made by Russia, conscription (it’s always forced btw) is something I can’t get over with, it goes against liberty, equality, solidarity, everything i believe in. It does not mean that they should be unfunded/unsupported/fought against, just that we have to remember that they are bad to the core, and that even when necessary, they should not get any glory, any power or any reward.
