I’ve been posting and chatting with people on RedNote or Xiaohongshu for about a month or so and there’s very little politics content there, which is refreshing! There’s a few Americans who can’t kick the habit, but I usually either block em or tell the app not to show me content like that and it’s pretty good about it.

American. I visit Germany once every few years. Each time, I see American beer get better and better. I think, this time when I visit Germany I’ll finally be able to say “Yes, you do beer incredibly well, but American beer has gotten much better, come visit me, I can’t wait to show you.”

I have one sip of German beer and all my hopes and dreams are shattered. We cannot make a beer as good as Kölsch, it seems. Tbf there’s cheap German beers that taste like swill, but it isn’t hard to find just amazing Kölsch in Köln.

Humans are largely good to one another face to face, our most evil things happen when we create systems that allow us to remove the humanity from one another. We also have a tendency to allow only sociopaths and psychopaths to lead us, and we gotta nip that in the bud, but most people who aren’t like that don’t want to lead.

Imagine a set of food items on a table, hot dog amongst them, but not other pseudo-sandwiches. I ask you to “Please pass me that sandwich.” If there is but a moment’s pause in your mind before you reach for the hot dog, even if it’s as you surmise I must be speaking about the hot dog as there are no other sandwich-like items available, then it is not a sandwich.
