That’s not true, all my files are stored on onedrive nowadays, which is super fast and responsive. Oh wait… it’s actually slow and laggy and randomly deletes stuff from your pc and you’re not even allowed to give your files perfectly normal names like .aux files in a LaTeX project.

IMHO you should both just walk you own career path. Your relationship and your careers should not be tied together. You can still support your boyfriend when he goes to college next year, but you should not be there to hold his hand all the way. College is generally not as hostile as high-school. It’s full of important lessons to learn about life and society and such. Your boyfriend should learn those lessons himself. You can guide him from afar as the experienced partner.
