you’ll be experiencing problems soon. I recommend you switch to something else, like summit.
sync dev abandoned the project and ran away with the subscription money without any notice
I use Summit.
6-7 hours. 8+ hours during the weekend.
KMyMoney? It’s a personal finance manager, but you can also use it for your donation tracking.
- The most active comm in the whole Threadiverse is !technology@lemmy.world
- You can check !fediverse@lemmy.world and !fedimemes@feddit.uk to see what’s happening in the Fediverse.
- For drama between people, we have this: !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com
- Same thing, but more political: !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works
- The piracy comm: !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com
- All modlogs are public (the site (instance) modlog also shows admin actions)
- Votes are not private
- There are other software for the Threadiverse such as mbin and piefed. Don’t assume everyone is using Lemmy
- Currently the popular Lemmy alternative is Piefed
- Maybe some past Threadiverse events/lore for context in a few rare discussions that might happen and have happened.
- Most users in the Threadiverse are FOSS enthusiasts
- A rough idea of how federation works to understand why some stuff are the way they are (e.g. fetching comms unknown to your instance, defederation, phantom comments, etc.)
- There are some LLM bots (unidentified as such) roaming here as well. Be sure to block and report them.
- This place might look inactive compared to Reddit. We are trying to grow organically. Bear with us.
- If you want to help smaller communities out, try using the Scaled sort. It gives a boost to smaller comms in your feed.
Imo Thunder has the best design out of every app I tested, but the development is slow. Iirc some moderation actions are still not available.
I then switched to Summit after the dev open sourced it a few years ago. The dev is very active and friendly.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your preferred Android Launcher in 2026?
1·3 months agoLawnchair
Though it is a bit buggy for me.
Sunshine and a few others were talking about building a federated Linkedin alternative on Matrix, I don’t know what happened to it now.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why can people see who upvotes and who downvoted post on Lemmy?
41·4 months agoIndeed it does. However my intention was to say that Pub in ActivityPub is most likely not an adjective (public), but a verb (publish).

Very easy to use app. I’ve been contributing to OSM more because of it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•First time here: What are some tips or rules I should know?
3·4 months agoTry to learn how federation works if you don’t know it already. Otherwise you’ll be wondering why some problems occur, why some things are the way they are and why users and comms have a @example.com in their names.
Here is a good simple starter guide by fedecan:
https://fedecan.ca/en/guide/get-started
If you want a more featureful alternative, check out Piefed: https://join.piefed.social/
No need to worry, as it is also a part of the Fediverse. You can interact with anyone you can in Lemmy in Piefed as well.
If you want to help by interacting with smaller comms, try the “Scaled” sort. It gives a boost to smaller comms in your feed.
Some more info about Lemmy here: https://join-lemmy.org/docs
Doesn’t allow third party email clients.
I can recommend Posteo.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•why is everybody banning me from talking about the livingrimoire?!
3·4 months agoI just found this in your buy me a coffee page:
promotion of the livingrimoire AGI software design pattern
If you think that whatever your creation is is a “AGI software pattern”, then it should become obvious why you got banned from everywhere.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there a Matrix client that has an interface similar to Discord?
5·4 months agoI think Cinny has a pretty similar interface.
“2027 edition”
Yes. The rule is “no US politics”, not “no politics”.
As long as discussion of Venezuelan politics does not turn into or knowingly cause US political discussion, it will be fine. Let’s be honest here though. Given the current events, it will surely turn into one.
A while ago, we made rule 6 a temporary rule that was initially meant to last until the US elections. Later, through a community vote, it was made permanent.
