Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•"You look like you're on steroids" said as an insult to a natural person is usually taken as a complement. What are some other examples of an intended insult that's typically taken as a complement.
10·4 days agoI was accused of plagerism 3 times on big projects in school because “there is no way you wrote this level of work”. The first time I only “got a way with it” because as he read more the teacher realized that these werent paragraphs but instead multiline run on sentences.
Once I got better at that though I actually failed those classes because they could believe it (made up for them quick no sweat off my back now). I really felt like “damn thanks but please can I just keep a passing grade instead”.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Its illegal in the USA to advocate for the violent overthrow of the government, yet its legal to own and carry weapons that is meant to facilitate such acts of rebellion... 🤔
3·6 days ago“shall not be infringed” means the federal government has no authority over that right.
It’s another thing the states were meant to handle. The standing army and us imperialism is an extension of this failure of following the constitution here imho too

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why don't I care about the Artemis mission/program?
3·9 days agoBecause their is so many crisies going on at once that all of the discussion about what makes it cool has been drowned out for years. It’s also a little bit of a catch-up to what we ought to have been instead of some of this bullshit

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•If you ever get trapped in an alternate dimension, the first thing you should try to find is a history book
3·10 days agoThe idea traveling to a other demension and reading something that is dramatically different there your dimensions history only to later find out, no, that guy was just a moron, and now you look like one too, is very funny to me.
