Did you see some of the guys at the Oscars this year?
Colman Domingo SLAYED it.

We can have sash belts now? Nobody told me!
Doubling down makes them even more entrenched, then they start believing CRAZIER things.
They actively reject the evidence and believe what they want to an even greater degree.
Confronting them with the flaws in their thinking only makes them double down:

Mostly? Soundtrack. Put a creepy soundtrack on the Truman Show and it is a horror movie.

This comes to mind:
Common wisdom:
Cheap - Good - Fast
You can only pick two. Is this necessarily true? Not always, but a lot of the times… yeah.
Diversity of opinion. If all your friends are family members, you’re living in a bubble.
It’s not necessarily a BAD thing, it’s good to be friends with your parents, not everbody has that.
But you should meet more people and have friends outside family members.
I haven’t worked in a library since the early 80s so I imagine it’s way different now…
It was a lot of administrative work:
Prepping new books for the shelves.
Replacing old newspapers and magazines.
Checking books out/in
Shelving
Updating the card catalog
Every now and then helping somebody
Check it on 4/1 or shortly after, my scores update monthly.
I mean, pretty hard to tell since I don’t work for a reporting agency, but that many credit pulls and cancellations close together, along with the rapid increase and decrease in available credit, plus multiple closed accounts isn’t going to do you any favors.
Do any of your current cards have a credit score option on them? Will be interesting to see how that changes.
Non-burning tobacco smells AMAZING.
My family smoked like chimneys, 1/2 died from cancer, 1/2 died from emphysema.
You only need to watch one person die from emphysema to decide to never smoke.
Bonus: One great great grandma died from emphysema and never smoked a day in her life… she was a fry cook for 40 years. :(
50s - Cigarettes and bourbon.
As a bundle of recessive genes, I definitely wouldn’t meet the Gattaca standard. :)
I always found the stories of human/chimp hybrids fascinating.

Unproven, but theoretically as possible as horse/donkey, zebra/horse, or lion/tiger.
Freedom comes at a cost, what you want is for other people to shoulder the burden and take care of you and that’s not an option beyond a certain age, and having someone do that for you also comes at a cost.
Your basic needs will be met either in the military or in prison, but that’s not freedom.
You can get a job and pay for your basic needs on your own, which while also not freedom, is still better than the military or prison. :)
You can enroll in college and have food/shelter taken care of, but if you don’t have a job to pay for it, you’ll bury yourself in debt, paying for your freedom now, with debt chains later.
