OP’s hypothetical person is explicitly assertive. Pretentious doesn’t convey assertion. You can be pretentious internally and keep it to yourself.
This happens in Magic the Gathering. Jace and Alhammarret are apprentice and mentor at first, then Jace realized Alhammarret was using him, so they fought. If I recall, Jace made Alhammarret forget how to breathe, and that was that.
Grew up with Maruchan but I’ll get whichever one is cheaper if it’s just for me. Family members prefer Maruchan though.
I think the logic there is that on an island, seafood is much more readily available, hence its abundance in the food items. Some of the food items can be cooked using caught fish, harvested veggies etc. You can’t go kill Agnes to make pork chops (my wife would riot)
