Not everything is black and white like you think, in fact, nothing ever is. Calling it hypocritical is just blatantly naive.
If you keep thinking like this, any idea you’re trying to popularize would remain in the fringe of society.
If all you want to do is remain in the internet’s dark corner while criticizing the mainstream media to no avail, then you’re the hypocrite.

Despite all the fucked up shit they did, there are some significant contribution that they did. For me, it helps to not take things personally and just use what works.

Dafuq man, that’s some hairy shit

The ability to load custom fonts comes to mind. I remember when I was converting my document from TeX to Typst was that I wasn’t able to just specify my .ttf file path.

I’d say it still have a long way to go, especially for advanced use cases
If you just want to have a quick pdf generator, it’s definitely the right tool.
One thing that’s way better is the scripting. In LaTeX it’s just an afterthought, simply exposing its convoluted core. In Typst, it feels way more like a first class feature.

For me, yes.
It is especially amusing to see my meat-eating comments getting downvoted by a bunch of vegans.
Another example that is positive would be how much the folks here are into Linux, and are readily helping the ones trying it out.
Overall tho, I feel like a lot of folks here have never met anyone with contrasting view, or are actively labeling such as evil.

Probably one of the options below:
With that big of an age gap, what do you folks even have in common to talk about??

What… That making babies part is only a tiny part of the plot…

my mom told me not to click links on internet…
It might be, but who cares.
As a wise man once said: the time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
If you don’t enjoy it, tho, then you’re definitely wasting your time for no good.
World leaders: “you know that’s not gonna happen.”

The way some people think everything needs to look fancy and gimmicky.
Like, I get it, stuff would be better blending in with their surrounding fashion, but if we need to get thru more than three layers of menu to get to something we frequently use, it’s wasteful, and if it’s for something critical like in a car, it’s straight up dangerous.

Context matter, especially when you’re asking for fairness.
For one, how is she losing money?
If it’s the first one, than fuck it, you should beat the shit out of that thief.
If it’s the second one, then you should ask yourself how so, and why your mom thinks otherwise.
Also, if you think that she’s not paid enough and that she should monetize more, do note that monetizing something would take significant effort, and in some case could’ve taken the joy out of something she enjoy doing.

Valid point.
What I would like to add to it is that we will need to defend it from time to time.
We’ve already seen an example when Meta’s Thread tried to federate.
Spammers have also been a nuisance, and thankfully our mods & admins have been handling them well.

If what was meant when OP says ‘internet’ is the cesspool social media, then yes, we should totally ditch them.
However, the fact remains that the real definition of internet is simply a bunch of interconnected devices that run the internet protocol (IP), nothing more and nothing less.
Though I have my doubts, I’m not disagreeing with you or anything, just pointing out that there’s a lot of people confusing this term, and simple as it may be, it might be harmful.

I agree! If we give up and move somewhere else, they’d just follow us and ruin it.
My pretentious idea is simple. Just like living beings, ideas tend to propagate.
