Well my thought process was that smell is something you can’t get over the internet. Like you could see images or videos of art and sculptures and stuff, but not smells.

Yeah! With lots of puns and silly jokes.
I used to play Kingdom of Loathing a lot - I think it fits into this category.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I recently started using Mastodon. Which people or accounts would you recommend to follow and why?
5·1 month ago@pluralistic@mamot.fr - Cory Doctorow, author of Enshittification
@CatsOfYore@mastodon.social - old photos of cats
@apod@reentry.codl.fr - Astronomy Picture of the Day
@Gargron@mastodon.social - founder of Mastodon
@georgetakei@universeodon.com - guy who posts a lot
Other than that I mostly follow urbanists and webcomic artists, plus like hundred people I added randomly.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your kinda-unimpressive 'claim to fame'?
39·1 month agoI was first to crack a code that appeared at the end of an episode of the Adult Swim show 12 Oz. Mouse. They sent me a T-shirt for it.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•enshittification is inherent to our culture and the only thing that prevented it in the past was slow communication.
4·2 months agoI’d recommend reading Enshittification by Cory Doctorow if you’re interested in the subject. He argues that there are some specific causes. To name a few:
- The US has been lax on enforcing antitrust laws, meaning there are fewer and larger companies, and less competition forcing them to not be shitty
- The power of these large companies has also allowed regulatory capture
- Technology has allowed them to do a lot more shitty things and obfuscate bad practices. This includes being able to communicate faster as well as other things.
That’s true. I assumed it was more of a cure for aging. But OP did say “live forever” and “not dying”, so I’d agree that I don’t want those.
Y’all are crazy, I’d take immorality in a heartbeat if anyone was offering.
It’s nothing special but it’s always there for you. It’s like the one that’s been waiting while you’ve chased after other beverages and had your heart broken, and then you realize it was the one all along. tl;dr you friendzoned water

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•When you say "thank you kindly", the adverb is describing how you are thanking them, so you're basically saying "I'm being kind"

56·3 months agoYou are saying I thank you, and how I thank you is kindly (gratefully or with grace).
This is exactly what I’m saying - “How I thank you is kindly” i.e. “I’m being kind in the way I’m thanking you”
