Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Scrambled eggs can be scrambled into any food if you scramble them hard enoughEnglish
1·2 months agoFried rice is continuously fried at high temperature. You scramble the eggs. This is liquid eggs tempered into rice after it’s heated, and it stays liquid.

2·2 months agoRaw eggs into piping hot rice. Temper them in so they don’t scramble by whipping them with a fork in a centre well and then adding rice slowly at first. Top with soy sauce.
Works great with beans and rice, mashed potatoes, anything. Freshens up old stale leftovers.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The singular they is actually such a natural part of the English language, the people complaining about it almost certainly use it without noticingEnglish
10·5 months ago‘You’ has a similar ambiguity, being a plural word originally, but most people muddle through that.
I do think we should bring back thee/thy/thou as singular, but whatever.
BBS door games? Yeah, I still play VGA Planets occasionally.

That would be hilarious actually since we haven’t used 1 cent coins since like 2010. I have a roll somewhere…
