Hard disagree, I’ve met some super nice people who have 0 friends because they’re just shy and awkward or have anxiety, or are just plain weird. You can’t expect those people to be open and sociable when they hardly ever talk to people. Add on to that you have to make a huge effort to meet new people when you’re an adult, things being so online, loss of 3rd spaces, and that covid socially stunted so many people.

I’m a millennial and baaaarely avoided dial-up, it was phasing out in the late 90s but I still have the sound burned into my head so I assume my parents used dial up when I was super young.

People take it for granted but it’s actually such a cool bit of engineering, we had a world-changing technology, but it would take decades to get lines set up and wouldn’t really be too useful until then. But engineers realized by literally playing and listening to beeps over an existing widespread utility in phone lines, you’ve just given almost everyone access to the internet overnight, with almost 0 infrastructure cost.

I have had it break my bootloader when I was dual booting, if it wasn’t my main pc then I might risk it but I’m not rolling the dice on if windows decides to break it again.

I have the most off-putting personality imaginable and I still get a ton of attention from women because I’m tall. It just won’t keep peoples attention more than a good personality will.

Authoritarian Communism does not mean “siding with giving the proletariat authority.” Again it’s fine if you have a definition you use, but words have meaning. People are criticizing the authoritarian part, not the communism. Even if it is the majority opinion held by authoritarian communists today.

Yeah every time I bring up trump saying things like “I am currently breaking the law spending campaign funds to pay off a pornstar” the most common right wing response is “that sounds like fake news, the media hates trump.” As I am actively trying to show them the court documents quoting him. They don’t care what actually is true, trump just passes the vibe check for “says republican things.”

I think my friend just doesn’t know a lot about it and assumes one side can’t just be doing completely insane stuff, and if trump constantly broke the law then of course he would be in jail, so if he isn’t in jail the stuff couldn’t be that bad. He would probably be a non-voter which in this case was essentially a vote for trump unfortunately.
