  • Links to communities should use this format !main@feddit.org so that clients will open them properly. https://feddit.org/c/main this format will not work properly. You can not do the same for links to posts or comments tho so you have to hard link those sadly.

To embed an externally hosted image like this you can use this format ![optional image description](image url)
You can ofcourse just upload the image to your instances media storage, but some instances have that disabled or have file size limits.

To embed a hyperlink into text you just Ctrl+C the URL, select the text that should contain the hyperlink and then Ctrl+V which will add the link to that selected text.

If you want to force a new line while writing text, you have to put two spaces at the end of the line.
    like this
Otherwise you either need to put a full empty line in between or it will just be continuous flowing text.

  • Whenever anything is “federated” the easiest comparison is email. Everyone can use different email servers and applications, but they can all still communicate with each other. “Email” is the shared protocol that structures how data is exchanged between servers and clients.

The fediverse instead uses a protocol named “activitypub”, but works similar. Just a bunch of servers that speak the same technical language which enables them to freely exchange information. But while email only supports single messages, activitypub supports more complex structures that developers for platforms like lemmy or mastodon can use to make actual applications with an interface that gives you an easy way to display and structure that data like as a forum or blogging platform.

  • Also there isnt much of a point in dropping bombs on an empty field, so they are mostly found in populated areas. That means most of the ones close to the surface got found right after the war by people seeing the impact zone. The deeper ones just havent been found. So this kinda thing where its close to the surface, but hasnt been found, can only happen when the bomb was dropped in an area that wasnt frequented by people for a few years after the war. When it was freshly dropped it was probably quite visible.

  • This is a really unusual case. Never heard of finding a shell that close to the surface in that sort of position. What does constantly happen in europe tho is digging up bombs during construction works which leads to an evacuation of the neighborhood and a bomb disposal team coming.
