2·1 month agoTo give you a slight idea of what you’re getting into the “Ai agents” are always “alive”, when not controlling a character in game they are stuck in a pool with the other unused Ai agents, when they are in use they must act within how the character they are controlling would act. If they are an early enemy they must make mistakes and will likely “die”. That’s the point of early bosses, give the player a sense of power but if the Ai is conscience and sentient is it morally acceptable to kill them repeatedly? The player may grind an area repeatedly for either experience or specific loot. If the loot has a 2% drop rate, is it morally right to repeatedly run that dungeon for days/weeks killing that Ai over and over looking for that drop? What about the other Ais watching you repeatedly kill their friend? They have thoughts and feelings but their only future is to repeatedly be shoved into the embodiment of some character and likely suffer from injuries and likely death only to be returned to their pool to observe their friends suffering the same way untill they are forced to repeat the experience.

1·1 month agoI like “life at reset” series. Basically guy is playing mmo and on top of leader boards. He gets betrayed by his “friend” ends up as a goblin and can’t log out. Through the books explores concepts like rights of a true Ai, dealing with emotions of betrayal, advancements in technology, sacrifice for family, purpose of your life and more. It’s 6 books so not a quick read but interesting and thought provoking.

8·1 month agoA racing game where you deliver pizza. It’s in a city with cars driving around doing their own thing. Issue is, you are a poor pizza delivery person and gas is expensive so you don’t have a car. You have a skateboard and a electro-magnet harpoon gun. You shoot it at cars which pull you behind but have no control over where they go or how fast they go. They could stop randomly and you slam into the back. When they take a turn you could retract the cord and get closer for a tighter curve but less time to react to anything around the corner. You could extend the cord but risk slamming into the building on far side of the intersection or ending up going head first into oncoming traffic.
There are no “tracks”. There is a starting point and a ending point in a city. How fast can you get there? Do you go most straight path there? Do you take the highway for safety but have to loop back to destination? What if the car dragging you takes a turn you didn’t want? Do you just follow or release and try to coast till there’s another car to pull you?

10·1 month agoIt’s fanuc cnc… Incredibly useful and precise but OLD! They literally still support programs from bubble tape if you need. It was basically hardware constrained initially but fixing it would break backwards compatibility which is a super selling point for them to government and long term industries.
Their controllers are mad expensive (budget version is like 30k last I checked), their support is top notch(tech typically on site within 24 hours with every possible board which may be bad so they can get you running and charge you later), they are incredibly precise and can do things other systems legally can not(a trainer I knew said “if you can move in 5 dimensions at once you can do some interesting things with nuclear energy so those require special clearance to sell”). Basically if you need them you NEED them, if you don’t then you don’t.

22·1 month agoBasically we made devices which were surgically implanted into your body to send specific electrical signals to your spine and brain for certain medical issues. The electronics were in a metal case so your icky blood and bodily fluids didn’t cause shorts. This system was to weld the metal case closed.

8·1 month agoLol, yup. Actually it was 4 axis. And connected to a laser instead of a milling bit. The system was also in a controlled gas environment which added extra complications.

Was that a thing? I’ve never heard it or saw it in a store
