Finkelstein opposed BDS for a very long time and has had many other major flaws. His arguments are generally very weak And he doesn’t push the boundary on anything very much.
The only thing he’s got going for him, opposed to all the Palestinians and brown people you never heard about, is that he’s a white Jewish guy. So when he says the thing they have been saying for ten years, ten years later, he suddenly sounds very smart and intellectual.
Listening to Finkelstein repeatedly saying “the atrocities of October 7” over and over again makes me cringe.
That’s not to say that Finkelstein is bad as a whole, I think he’s a net positive for the Palestinian cause, but he certainly isn’t this epic frontrunner-based guy you think he is.
