JFC, bring in some new blood already. A has-been and a never-was aren’t going to build a winning team, brand, or a fan base. Does Aston have any fans? At all?
Alonso is a has-been only in the context of him being a two time champ and probably not being able to hit that high again. But let’s not downplay how good he is. He’s still better than at least half the grid. Just look at 2023. 2023 was a fight for the third place in the WDC and Alonso came in fourth behind Hamilton. The clock is definitely ticking but I doubt he’s a has-been in the sense that he’d be the bottleneck for a winning team. If anything Aston Martin is seriously bottlenecking the potential Alonso has.
As long as daddy money is still providing the money. The kid will still be on the team. I personally cant stand stroll
Why, though?
Alonso: Because he’s the only good driver willing to drive for Aston.
Stroll: Son of the owner. Has no interest to be in F1 but stays because that’s the deal he has with daddy who’d not fund the lavish lifestyle otherwise.
I think Alonso is trying to get into daddy Stroll’s will. He’s playing the long game to be the son he always wanted with a WDC
