Sounds like Europe. Maybe a bit more extreme since property crimes and financial crimes exceeding a certain monetary amount will get you jailed, but “casual” offenders will get exactly that.
And no death penalty, that’s just barbaric to begin with.

I mean, do the maths. A high res picture is 8-15 MB in size, and a 4k video has 60 fps (frames per second). Let’s take 12 MB as average picture size, that gives you 12MB x 60 frames x 60 seconds = 43.2 GB/min. With some advanced compression algorithms you can maybe get the individual frame size down to half, but that’s really it.
Those were awesome!
People are idiots. Why would you give up a benefit you’re legally entitled to? Nobody is going to as much as thank you for that.
I’ve had them in Nigeria where you basically just boil them peeled in salt water and then mix into freshly boiled rice and eat it with some type of beef stew as a main course, and in China where you boil them with their shell in a mixture of water with black tea leaves, dried chillies, Sichuan peppers and salt, then let them cool down and eat as a snack.
Fully agree, ideally sardines in oil or mackerel in tomato sauce with peas (not sure the latter is a thing outside of northern Europe?).
Toast needs a health layer of butter to keep the sauce from mushing it up as well.
I guess around 8-12, sometimes more, rarely less.
I have cables that are 15 years old and still work. Not USB-C obviously, but A-A and A-B, but also some USB-C cables that are close to 10 years old now and came bundled with some OnePlus phone (the 3 I think?).
The key to not breaking cables is to not roll them up tightly. If you need to transport them, put them very loosely into a bag or something, and everything should be fine.
I’m using the cheapest 2m long cables I could find online, they don’t fail if treated correctly.
I wish, unfortunately it’s just a name change. Under the hood it’s all ColorOS, there’s no more separate development.
ColorOS is hot garbage unfortunately, full of Chinese bloat.
Up until the OP11 they would ship a different release for Western markets (OxygenOS), but from the 12 that’s apparently a thing of the past.
I’m still rocking the 10pro and love it, but absolutely dread the moment when it inevitably fails someday.
Perfect timing, enjoy! My favorite country, used to live there for a while some years ago.
Yeah calibre is amazing, and also integrates anti-drm plugins nicely. Recently I’ve been reading more and more on my phone so file formats don’t matter anymore, but it’s still a great software just for managing your ebook archive.
As a mobile reader I can also really recommend ReadEra (free and ad free), they do have a premium version, but all that adds is synchronize books via cloud storage to other devices and sync reading progress.
Yeah same problem. Worst were CRT monitors or old tube-TVs, they made a constant sound quite like a tinnitus.
I always thought hearing electricity is normal, up until I realized most people can’t do that. Never been on antidepressants or anything, that’s my normal state of consciousness.
Surprise surprise, I’m extremely sensitive to all kinds of noise.
Windows can do that, but opens archives as folders and will run executables by extracting them to a temp folder without dependencies. And the unpack dialogue is cumbersome, with 7zip you get a simple right click -> extract here / to folder dialogue, that somehow still is too much to ask of the main OS.
Those are the free ones I use very frequently at least, I’m sure there’s more.
Used to live in Norway when I joined reddit, and the whole Norse lore resonated with me. Back then I had a number attached, that wasn’t needed on Lemmy anymore.
Horses ain’t cheap, those things break all the time. Friend of my sister got herself one, and pays more in vet bills than my sister on her mortgage.
Never liked kids, never liked the idea of having kids. I have a miniscule noise tolerance, and being around them for just a few hours completely exhausts my social batteries.
After meeting my nieces I need a full day to recover, so I wouldn’t expose myself to the same thing at home on a near constant basis, plus I love the freedom to be as spontaneous as I want to be.
Got sterilized in my 20s, now I’m in my 40s. Zero regrets, best decision of my life.
There is no c in Frikadelle.
