In Germany this happened a few years ago too. Sky probably spent a ton of money, so they could get exclusive rights. Free TV only can broadcast a few races, instead of all and we couldn’t subscribe to F1TV any more. Oh and Sky increased the prices by a lot.

One big thing is that the subscriptions don‘t renew in the vsa. In Germany they still do renew
My guess would be ESPN is taking over streaming in the US.
