The weird, alien sounds lights and textures, the fact that it does things suddenly by itself as if it were sentient, the spinning of its contents that you can watch through the porthole… The inside literally felt like a spaceship. It was nothing like the other pieces of furnature
My toddler is fascinated by washing machines too.
… washing machines are appliances not furnature.
Gets up and leaves angerly
I used to like them… Then not. Then yes again. It goes in cycles.
I am nearly 40 and am still fascinated by these for the exact same reasons as OP.
Never lose your inner child, that ability to be awed, entranced, experience wonder and curiosity.
Unfortunately all of these things have become normal in the eyes of my brain now, so I’d have to take some sort of drug to perceive it via its primary characteristics again. Any idea which drug could do that?
Once a month, hike, on foot, at least a mile, to a place that has a creek, a pond, or a lake, or a vista, of the most non human inhabited area reasonably near you.
Bring binoculars or a monocular/scope/etc if you want.
Sit at this place for another hour.
Do not turn on your phone.
Hike back.
… repeat for something like 6 months, your symptoms should start to clear up.
Have you ever taken edibles?
Only smoked
As a former toddler I still am.

I can’t unsee the face in this pic.
Yeah, but why does that washing machine have a face?
Because there are more behind the person.
You’re not alone! They are wonderous devices.
Same. I liked sticking my head into the drum and yelling a bit, the echo was fun.
Same!!
Are you a cat?
