As far as humans vs other great apps go, I’ve heard it’s because of humans and their giant heads. In a perfect world humans would have longer pregnancies to let babies develop more, but 9 months is pretty much the cutoff because their heads get so huge. As a consequence human babies are exceptionally useless and underdeveloped when they’re born (among apes at least).
