You could go out and build a list of religions and see which ones have that property.
In Christianity, Islam, and (checks) Shintoism, there is.
In Buddhism, there is not.
It sounds like Hinduism has a pretty broad variety of positions, some of which do and some of which don’t.
So I guess I’d say that it’s certainly viable to have a religion that doesn’t, but it seems like it’s a common characteristic to have, and that’s probably not sheer coincidence.
