Adding onto this, they’ve been big in bodybuilding circles for about two decades, but have been gained popularity in recent years due to Joe Rogan types and the MAHA crowd boosting them.
The safety profile is marginally better than other grey-market compounds due to them being protein “fragments”, but there are overall major risks around contamination, QC, and secondary effects, generally speaking.
The big names are the GHRPs (growth hormone releasing peptides), used as anabolics, and the healing accelerators BCP-157 and TB-500.
I was legally prescribed BCP-157 by my doctor (PO as a GERD treatment) around 2022, and can speak to it pretty well if anyone has questions.
Sure I have a question for you: What does a peptide look llke? In my head I’m imaging them as colorful pebble-shaped tablets, mostly thanks to the name. Is it a tablet? A capsule? A liquid? Do you swallow/drink/inject it?
It’s a nondescript off-white powder, in the raw. Mine was packaged into capsules by the pharmacy, but I did pop one open to inspect because I had exactly the same curiosity lol.
I don’t have personal experience on this front, but I imagine for injected administration, which is the more common route, it would be made into solution or suspension and kept in a refrigerated multiuse vial, e.g.:
I had chronic heartburn issues for a few years, preceding and during the COVID era.
My doctor asked me about the heartburn during an annual visit, told me she’d had success treating people with a 30-day oral regimen of BPC, and asked if I would be interested in trying it as an unproven-but-promising approach. I had no idea it was being used in that way at the time, but understood the risks and decided it was worth trying.
The compound itself came prepared in capsules from a local compounding pharmacy and cost ~$200 for the full supply.
I took it daily, and while I still had heartburn for the first few weeks, it felt like I could shrug off the damage better and had less esophageal discomfort. Around the three week mark, there was a notable remission of reflux, and after the full course, I’ve been able to live and eat normally without any GERD-related symptoms. I don’t know how much of the QoL improvement can be chalked up to direct action of the peptide, versus the peptide acting as a salve to wean off the PPI I was taking — but if nothing else, it made that transition far more bearable than it otherwise would have been.
I did not notice any systemic effects on healing and recovery during the 30 days, nor any sort of unpleasant side effect.

For what kind of injury did he prescribe it, did it work and did you have side effects? IIRC it causes formation of additional blood vessels?

Intriguing. I have chronic silent GERD due to a sphincter not closing properly.
