The Soviet Union
It’s not the best by a very big margin. But whenever I get up wasted after a night of partying and have a look at the mirror, I hear the anthem of long gone eastern Germany.

I haven’t really heard many of them, but I haven’t heard one I like yet. Like, that I would listen to just because it’s a banger of a song.
I’ve always liked Canada
I’m a huge fan of O Canada. Always enjoyed catching hockey games where one of the Canadian teams came down and so I’d get to hear it. Also enjoyed seeing games up in Montreal and getting the Francophonian version.
Ukraine’s national anthem is definitely up there. Part of the reason is that it’s writen by an actual songwriter instead of a poet, unlike the anthems of most western nations
Italy or Russia
You would think the Caribbean national anthems would be straight choonz.
But they all kept the colonizer anthems. Which suck.
Not even a marimba in sight.
France fucks, any anthem about glorious dead and cunting monarchs in to the sun is immediately S tier.

Don’t get me wrong, the Marseillaise slaps, but it does have some slighltly problematic aspects.
I’m pretty sure that’s about basting potatoes in too much butter.
Unironically, the Soviet Union. I’ve herd that anthem a thousand times as a joke, but you know, it kinda slaps.
Obviously I’m just talking about the arrangement and music because I’ve no idea what the lyrics mean.
It is used as the Russian anthem too, which is currently unfortunate because it’s amazing.
The tune but not the lyrics, which honestly suck.
I’m a fan of the old East German anthem if that counts.
Also shout out to Azerbaijan for possibly the most metal anthem.
France no question
Brazil has a very complicated, beautiful and long national anthem. Its great and all but using such difficult words and being so long means most people here don’t know the full song much less understand its meaning.
Funnily enough, I memorized and can sing the italian hymn because of my middle school, but can’t sing the full national anthem from my own country
I am not sure they still do but back in the day at least some Brazilian text books used to have the national anthem on the back, thats how I learned the words.
Mexico, hands down. If you grew up in San Diego and listens to cool radio, you heard this twice a day and it slaps!
Sometimes, as teenagers while partying and drunk af we suddenly got a national pride surge, and sang the national anthem at the top of our lungs. It’s just so good. Also nothing unites us Mexicans more than singing it before a football match.
Shame the lyrics are all about war when we have all sorts of cool things here but what can you do. (They do ignite something deep within tho haha)

I’m glad at least that it’s secular and inclusive. At least, the modern lyrics are - the original are a cringe product of their time.
