Tron: Legacy
The movie is basically just a ~90 minute music video.
I was debating putting this. I see it’s a popular comment. I don’t think it’s a bad movie, as I greatly enjoy it. The soundtrack is definitely what makes it excellent though and the album is worth a playthrough every once in a while
Despite the two seconds of screen time haha
That’s more screen time than what they got in Interstella 5555, an actual album music movie
Pirates of the Caribbean. The plot, characters, actors, and effects are fine enough. Specifically the plot is bland; it’s deliberately a hodgepodge of everything piratey tossed into a blender. Johnny Depp’s performance is excellent, but more because it feels the script was shaped around his eccentric dude persona rather than them stretching their skills. None of this makes the film bad just mediocre.
… but the score is a masterpiece. Instantly iconic, filled with layered motifs, carries the sense of adventure and perfectly shapes the mood of each scene. Both catchy enough to become an earworm, but orchestral and textured enough that it’s not unwelcome as one.
Yeah I have to agree, although I personally love the films as well.
Disgusting lack of Space Jam in this thread. For a kids movie, the artists on the soundtrack were not fucking around
Yeah that really does seem like one of the most underrated movie soundtracks
Tron Legacy
I am super proud to be late to the party and still have one useful submission: Flash Gordon, the 1980 hot mess that George Lucas passed on to make Star Wars.
The soundtrack is not the finest work by Queen, but is worth a tenth re-listen nonetheless.
Flash! Aah ahh!
King of the Impossible!
A Kind of Magic! I mean it’s not really the soundtrack to Highlander, but it kinda is and it rocks
hot mess
Oi! Take that back!
I’m surprised no one has mentioned Suicide Squad yet.
Star wars
Suckerpunch
Batman Forever and the X-Files Movie Soundtrack.
Love me some scores, but these were both rock solid soundtracks.
Both of these had fantastic original(?) songs.
And Batman Forever marks the beginning of the end of U2.
Put in my vote for _Flash Gordon _. Now, look, I love the movie, but the Queen album that goes with it is incredible.
LotR
Don’t get me wrong. The movies are great. But the soundtrack is even better.
You should listen to phil dragash read the books, you’d love it
Super Mario Bros.
Open the door…
Maximum Overdrive
It’s all AC/DC [the album version is Who Made Who], but, they’re pretty much all bangers with a couple originals for the movie.
- Braveheart
- Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
- The Book of Eli
- Lost Highway
And probably Purple Rain, but I’ve never seen the movie.
Did you make the mistake of watching Crouching Tiger in english?
Mistake? That dub is gold
Guy: “Master Li! Master Li is here!”
Me: “What the fuck? English? Fuck no!”
That’s as far as I got into that dub.
Bad Company
