Unmatched someone: I was talking about how the movie Avatar is a blatant allegory for native/indigenous populations and the person got offended that I would “put real life events into a movie about blue people”

Been unmatched: the person had a series of 4 almost identical selfies but each one had different anime boys edited in as if they were hanging out (amazing bit. Perfect joke) and my opening line was “i hate when people have only group photos. It makes it so difficult to tell when one I matched with”. I was called an idiot and unmatched within 5 minutes.

got a match and first question was if I was an EU citizen, I am, but decided to reply “no” just for fun. Then she asked me if I was here legally and on the path of citizenship, I replied yes just to see where this was going.

“alright, contact me again when you’re an EU citizen”

A girl canceled a date once because I’m not on Facebook or anything else. (I asked her out in person).

She combed through socials as a kind of background check and interpreted my absence as suspicious. Modern problems.

What’s interesting is that both perspectives are valid. Of course she could have asked why you don’t have social media, and when you spout off about privacy and big tech then she would cancel for a different reason.

i have a couple of women on dating apps who repeatedly match me then accusing me of being someone else and threaten to report me. I block them.

also lots of them IRL and on dating apps refuse to interact with me further once they find out where I grew up or that my parents aren’t educated. because that means i’m not from a ‘good family’. I also find this totally insane… but I guess it’s fairly normal for people to judge you based on your parents/hometown?

I will say the weirdest fight I ever got in in a relationship/dating was a Russian woman who lost it on me because I eat breakfast cereal. She went on this rant about how cereal/granola is for children and grown men can only eat toast, fruit, or eggs/sausage breakfast. She was so weird, but a every Russian woman I have dated has really backwards ideas about gender roles and they also disapproved of my lack of heavy drinking.

Wtf? I feel like where someone is from matters the least out of any dating quality when searching for a partner.

Honestly if anything growing up a certain way and then no longer being that shows growth and willingness to change. Both good qualities.

according to the women I meet you can’t ever change. probably because they themselves haven’t ever changed.

like I have had people argue with me that I am a Catholic because I was born into a catholic family and baptized, even though I haven’t ever been to church since I was like 10 years old. they tell me I’m lying to myself when I say I’m agnostic/atheist. It’s weird.

I mean, the Catholic kids who had to take CCD class after school tried to tell me the same thing, but we were 7. I’ve never had an adult tell me that parental religion is inescapable.

My last relationship ended because I told her I used to smoke weed. When I met her, I had already been about 18 months without a smoke, we didn’t start dating until 6 months after first getting to know each others. So by the time things got “official” I had been about 2 years without a single smoke. But according to her, that was a deal breaker and apparently people can’t change, I think she was trying to tell me that I’ll start smoking at any moment now.

Well, I guess she was right, since last weekend I smoked two joints, one on Friday and one on the Saturday. But this was about 14 months after we broke up. But yeah, she was totally correct with that one. The only good thing was that we were officially dating for like 6 to 8 weeks, so it wasn’t like a huge loss and devastation.

Anyway, that sort of put me off from dating, probably for good. I decided that if someone knocks on my door and tells me that we are now dating, I’ll try it out. But I won’t be seeking anything anymore. Its not worth the hassle at this point, I’m getting too old and I’m a introvert anyway. I’m fine with hanging alone at home, I can listen to whatever music I want, I can watch whatever movie/tv-show I want, I can play whatever game I like, I come and go however I want.

In the sense the poster is talking about you’re correct mostly, but when you’re marrying outside the country/culture it is harder and may not be worth it for some.

In her introduction she made it a point to mention that she’s an INTP and wanted to know what type I was. I simply said that those types of personality tests aren’t really my thing. I got a reply back, something to the effect of “Well thanks for showing up front what a toxic and hateful human being you are!”

So yeah guys, sorry about being so toxic and hateful for not being into personality tests.

16 Pesonalities probably? It depends on your mood of course, which answers you choose. But given that, and two runs, the two profiles were surprisingly accurate in my case. Even learned a few new things about myself. If you take it with a grain of salt, it’s not a bad thing.

This person took it too seriously, obviously.

Giving head as a sex act is a physical manifestation of putting someone before yourself. There a lots of valid reasons why someone wouldn’t want to give/receive it, but the mechanic at work here I think is how that was the first thing she decided to share. Kind of a weird line in the sand to draw immediately lol

I dunno. Giving someone head makes me feel like I have commandeered the bridge of their starship. I suddenly have a lot of say regarding what kind of pleasure they experience next, and also gain a front row seat to enjoy their response. It definitely feels very selfish to me, and applies no matter their particular equipment, because I have taken the helm lol

I don’t disagree with the first part. The second I couldn’t be more on a different page with ya. I like getting head as much as any sex act. More than most other things in fact. I could deep dive into why but absolutely nobody cares.

In another life I matched with this girl, picked her up, no joke the first thing she said to me in person after just meeting her was that she loved me. I just picked her up and saw her for the first time. I dropped her off right there. I didnt use it much after that so I never got to shine and have someone unmatch me.

A wiser person than I, I would have tried to discuss it and convince them they couldn’t possibly be. All the while thinking I’m putting myself down and saying reasons I’m flawed and them somehow taking it as me being kind and vulnerable. Relatonshps are probably better that way. Where I take the I out of them /s
